Goldendoodle training is a continuing process that requires patience and steady effort, but can be a rewarding experience and can help your Goldendoodle grow and learn to be a well-behaved puppy in your family and society.

Potty and Crate Training

Crate training and potty training go hand in hand and are important in ensuring your puppy can live according to your rules and schedule. Crate training involves getting your puppy used to being in its crate and staying there during certain times. The purpose of the crate is for your Goldendoodle training to have a den-like place that is theirs that they can sleep and eat in. It is best to introduce the crate slowly and gradually increase the amount of time your Goldendoodle is in its crate. A good idea, at least initially, is to put your puppy’s crate in a place where the family spends a lot of time and/or near where you sleep so that your Goldendoodle doesn’t feel too isolated. The crate should be associated with something positive and should never be used as punishment, since this will lead them to fear the crate and not feel comfortable with it.

Since dogs don’t like to soil where they sleep and eat, crate training is important in potty training your Goldendoodle. Potty training involves teaching your Goldendoodle to “go” at certain times in one particular location. At different times during the day in your puppy’s schedule, you should take your Goldendoodle outside and let it do its business in a specific spot or area.
